It seems Will Young has backed Rikki Loney from the start, after helping Cheryl choose him for the live shows at the Judge’s Homes stage of Bootcamp. Now with Rikki being out of the competition, Will insists that he could still go on to have a successful pop career post X Factor.
He said: “What I loved about Rikki was that he had tried so many times and had such a big heart. People should be rewarded for that. When someone is so positive and has tried so hard you can’t help but think he deserved a chance. That is what I thought about him. He got down to the last 12 and has already proven himself.”
Eight years after Will won Pop Idol, triumphing over hot favourite Gareth Gates he has enjoyed a hugely successful career and with his faith in Rikki it seems he is confident that you don’t have to win the competition to have a successful career from it!
